More Than a Pair of Socks

A brand-new pair of socks.

It’s one of those things most of us don’t think twice about. We grab a pair from the drawer, put them on, and head out the door.

But for a child heading back to school, a new pair of socks can bring confidence. For someone experiencing homelessness, they can provide comfort and dignity. And for a family facing tough times, it’s one less thing to worry about.

That’s why our Matching Sock Drive wasn’t just about collecting socks. It was about showing people who are facing hardship, that we see them and that they matter.

Thanks to the generosity of our members, more than 500 pairs of new socks were donated. Jolt matched every pair, and we delivered more than 1,000 pairs of socks to the Great Lakes Dream Center in Bay City.

If you’ve never heard of the Dream Center, it’s one of those places quietly changing lives every single day.

The Dream Center provides essentials like food, clothing, beds, diapers, and household items, but that’s only part of what they do. They also provide encouragement, support, recovery programs, community, and a place where people have a chance to dream again.

To everyone who donated to our Matching Sock Drive, thank you! And to Pastor Mary and the entire Great Lakes Dream Center team, thank you for the compassion you show every day and for reminding all of us that changing lives often starts with the simplest acts of kindness.

And sometimes, it can start with a brand-new pair of socks.
